The Duluth Inner Range Lighthouse was built on the South Pier of the harbor entrance, near the Aerial Lift Bridge. The purpose of the light was to provide a way for mariners to determine whether or not they were approaching the Duluth Harbor entrance straight on or not. If this light and the South Pier Light were lined up, then you knew you were not approaching at an angle.

Holly, a black Labrador Retriever, came to our home in March, 2003. My wife and I were training her to be a service dog for Helping Paws. After a year and a half of training, it was decided to withdraw her from the training program due to some allergy and fear concerns. She was placed as a pet with a good friend of mine who owns a small horse farm. She now spends her days chasing the horses and lounging in the shade of seven acres of pasture.
